The Tinted Window

Time to post some examples of the stained glass and mosaic work I've done. Most of it is still in my house or in the garden but some has been given as gifts and I've sold some of it and some custom work has been produced as well. It's much more satisfying, I've found, to produce a work of art that someone has expressed a desire for and really wants.

Stained Glass mirrors

Some mirrors I've done:

First mirror I did was a gift for a friend's birthday.

Sammy liked it and she picked out her own color of rose!

Then I made one with a lily; it's leaf "arms" look like they are wrapped around the mirror although it's a little hard to see in the picture.

3-D creations in glass

First 3-D object I tried was a candle cover. Made holder for a 10" pillar candle and the flame makes the glass look very nice. Picture doesn't do it justice. Used a couple of mirror pieces in the bottom area.

Then I tried a votive holder using some bevels in the sides.

A Kleenex holder with just one kind of glass and a metal design soldered to front. Is heavy enough to keep the cardboard box stable when the supply gets low. I hate grabbing a kleenex and the whole box comes off the table with it.

Some 3-D stars - one out of irridescent glass I cut and the other, blue beveled triangles which I bought.

Stained Glass panels

"Modern" rendition of poppies, California's state flower.

This was a contract piece for a neighbor who wanted a Xmas gift for someone who lived in L.A. They installed this in her front door where she had a clear class panel with wood spokes which the lead came in the "pie" shaped pieces of the pattern cover.

Daffodil panel using some interesting foil and irridescent glass for the petals and wire stamens giving it a bit of 3-Dness.

Hibiscus panel; love how this turned out. The tiny pieces on the unopened buds drove me crazy trying to foil and handle!

Daffodils - used some interesting copper foil and made some wire stamens for the flower centers that make it a bit 3-D.

Lotus blossom panel and I made the flower a little 3-D; had seen some panels like this and decided to try it with a pattern that was esstenially 2-D.

Clear glass panel - terrible picture. Need to retake.

Beveled Stars

Alternated using beveled diamond shapes and cut irridescent glass.

Two smaller stars made with beveled diamond shapes and colored blobs.

A beveled 'snowflake' with blue and red blobs. 17 in diameter. Made as a Xmas present for a friend.

Liked the red/blue colors so I made another one for me.

Made 3 of the following design - one of each of my front windows off the livingroom. Get a prism effect in late afternoon when the setting sun hits the bevel edges.

Mosaic Stepping Stones

Mosaic and cut glass stepping stones I've made over time with varying degrees of success. So far, have glued the glass pieces to a commercial stone instead of pouring my own cement into forms. Need to try that sometime too.

All mosaic doesn't turn out as well as part of the pattern being cut glass.

Duck stepping stone done as a birthday present for a friend.

Another one done as a birthday present for a friend.

All cut glass - no mosaic - gives a different look to the stone.

Actually sold the pansy stone to someone
who wanted it for their house at Tahoe.

My two "fish pond" stones - one with goldfish and one with a koi.
